How We Support Variety the Children's Charity

Community involvement is one of our passions at Buy-Low Foods and for 30 years, we have been dedicated to supporting Variety – The Children’s Charity through numerous events and fundraising efforts. Funding from Variety helps to cover costs for medical care and services, mobility and communication equipment, therapies and developmental programs not covered by private or public health plans.

At the 54th annual Show of Hearts Telethon (February 9th, 2020), we presented our contribution of $294,749 to help children with special needs in Western Canada! Each year, our staff volunteer their time answering phones and taking donations during this incredible event!

In partnership with our amazing suppliers, we host the annual Buy-Low Foods Vintage Market, benefiting Variety, and in 2019 we raised a record breaking $100,000 for Variety during this event! An amazing team of our dedicated staff volunteer their time to set up and run this exciting market.

At our sold out 2019 Buy-Low Foods Variety Golf Classic, we were able to raise a new record amount of $105,000 with the help of our suppliers!

Every year, we sell Variety’s Gold Heart pins in all our stores, and support a multitude of Variety’s annual volunteer-run events such as Boat for Hope in Vancouver, Victoria and Kelowna, Picnic in the Park in Stanley Park; the Grouse Mountain Picnic; and the Variety Christmas Party.
